Taming a Dragon is a daunting task for any new Dragon Rider. But have no fear, Gamemode One is here to help! We’ve put together a short guide to help you tame a Dragon so that you can begin your training and bonding process!
Before You Start!
Craft a Dragon Saddle using a Forge to make the taming process easier! For a quick guide on how you can make a Dragon Saddle, check out our Forge Guide here.
Find a Wild Dragon!
The first step is to find a Dragon in the wilds of the overworld. Start exploring, and you’ll soon encounter a wild Dragon. Be careful, you’ll want to hide any weapons in your hands and approach the Dragon slowly, preferably sneaking.
Feed a Dragon for the First Time!
Dragons like to eat! And each Dragon has their food preferences. You can learn their basic food preferences in our other Dragon 101 guide! For this guide, let’s pretend you’re taming a Gronckle. Feed the Gronckle some cobblestone until they’ve grown accustomed to your presence.
Give them a Dragon Saddle!
As soon as the Dragon is comfortable with you, they will start to follow you around. To fly around on your Dragon, you must equip them with a Dragon Saddle! In case you missed it, check out our guide on crafting a Dragon Saddle here.
You’ve Tamed Your First Dragon!
With a Dragon Saddle on its back, the Dragon will be tamed, and you will be able to fly together for short periods. Fly back to your home and start the process of bonding with your Dragon.
Grow Your Bond!
Now that you’ve tamed a Dragon, you can start the journey of bonding with your Dragon. Listen to their needs by observing their thought bubbles. Give them pets, food, and flight time to level up, and become an unstoppable duo! Check out our Bonding With Your Dragon Guide for more info!
