The Objective Menu
After completing the tutorial, you are given an Objective Item, which is a glowing blue symbol in your inventory. The Objective Item lets you look at your progress for various objectives and highlight the objective locations in the game world.
To see the objective locations in the game world, hold the Objective Item in your hotbar. The objective locations will appear at the location of each objective, making them easier to locate as you explore Pandora. Clicking on any of these objectives will give you more details about how to complete them!
Additionally, you can open the Objective Menu by interacting with the Objective Item in your Item Bar. You can interact with the menu by clicking on each objective and seeing which objectives you've completed and which remain.
Stamina
Every aspect of gameplay in Avatar: Rites of Passage relies on Stamina. Your default amount of Stamina is half of a circle. Half a circle of Stamina allows you to do short sprints, execute quick attacks, and harvest simple plants and animals.
You can increase your total Stamina by consuming plants, cooked meats, and cooked meals.
Various foods will provide different boosts to your Stamina for a limited time. You can see the amount of Stamina each food provides by looking at the item description. You can find food from foraging and hunting. You can improve those ingredients by cooking them at a Cooking Fires. Learn more by reading the cooking section below.
Foraging
Foraging plants is essential to your survival in Avatar: Rites of Passage. Plants you can forage will glow when you approach them. Interact with the plant to harvest. Some plants require more Stamina to harvest, so eat some Stamina-rich food, like Dapophet Pods to harvest those plants.
To increase your gathering skills, complete Lufri's gathering objective.
Make your way to Lufri outside of Hometree and speak to him to gain more information about the Solo Journey Rite of Passage. Hold your Objective Item and search for the icon that looks like some leaves.
Find 5 Dapophet Pods by following the nearby river. Once you find 5 Dapophet Pods, Return back to Lufri to finish the objective and receive the Forager’s Knife.
Hunting
Hunting requires patience and skill. You can either use your Knife or Bow to take down various creatures.
Please note: there is a Bow slot already in space 1 of your hotbar. It will be greyed out if you are yet to unlock your Bow from Ki'arin.
Hold your Objective Menu and search for the icon that looks like a Bow to find Ki'arin.
To acquire a bow, Make your way into the Forest to the camp and speak to Ki’arin. Follow their teachings to learn how to harvest Thicket Sticks using your Knife.
Use your Inventory Menu to craft Light Arrows using Thicket Sticks.
Equip Arrows in your Inventory Menu by placing them in the Arrow Equipment Slot.
Finally, practice your hunting skills by hunting Hexapede.
Once an animal is downed, harvest their remains by interacting with their body. You can use the Bones with Thicket Sticks to craft Heavy Arrows in your Inventory Menu. Heavy Arrows do more damage to tougher enemies like the Slinth, Hammerhead, and Strumbeest.
Return back to Ki’arin to receive the Hunter’s Bow.
If you want to switch between Light Arrows and Heavy Arrows, open your Inventory Menu and change the Arrow type in your Arrow Equipment Slot.
Cooking
There are various Cooking Fires around Pandora, including one at the base of Hometree. Interact with a Cooking Fire to access the Cooking Menu.
You can combine various plants and meats to craft higher-quality foods that provide more Stamina. Scroll over a recipe to see how much Stamina that meal provides. The Cooking Menu is ordered from low to high-quality meals for Stamina.
Note: Grey recipes can be crafted, whereas red recipes lack the required ingredients in your inventory.
Direhorse taming
Make your way into the Floodplains to the camp and speak to Za’akan. You can also find Za'akan Campsite using your Objective Item and following the icon that looks like a Horsehead.
To tame a Direhorse, you must forage for Nectar, which can be found easily near Za'akan's Campsite. Nectar comes from Direhorse Pitcher Plants, as pictured above, use your Foraging Knife to harvest them.
Once you have some Nectar, hold it in your hand and approach a Direhorse. Interact with the Direhorse to ride it.
Note: Direhorses share your Stamina wheel and will buck you off if it depletes.
Note: After you dismount a Direhorse, it will return to the wild.
Return back to Za’akan to finish his objective.
