What do Runes do?

Each rune is different and changes how spells function. Here is a list of Runes and what they do:

Rune List:

Visual	Rune Type	Description
	SPEED	The spell travels quicker through the air. Each tier further increases the speed.
	SLOW	The spell travels slower through the air. Each tier further decreases the speed.
	MULTICAST	The spell fires multiple times at once. Each tier adds another projectile allowing you to deal much more damage at once.
	PIERCING	Spells can go through multiple enemies, triggering with each enemy it hits. Each tier allows the spell to pierce an additional enemy.
	LIFETIME	The spell flies further before automatically triggering, allowing you to attack enemies from further away. Each tier allows the spell to fly further.
	BOUNCE	Allows a Spell to bounce before it expires. The effects of the spell trigger each time the spell bounces, so Bounce can be used to quickly cover a large area with harmful magic effects. Each tier allows for 1 additional bounce.
	HOMING	Causes the spell to home towards the nearest enemy. With each tier, the effectiveness of the homing increases.
	GRAVITY	Causes the spell to arc downwards towards the ground. Each tier makes the arc more extreme.
	ANTI-GRAVITY	Causes the spell to arc upwards towards the sky. Each tier makes the arc more extreme.
	DELAY	Adds a delay between the spell hitting the ground and its effect triggering. This can be useful to help you get away from the area before the spell causes harmful effects. Each tier increases the length of this delay.
	SNAKE	Causes the spell to wiggle as it flies through the air. Each tier increases the wiggliness of the wiggles.
	CHAOTIC	Causes the spell to move more erratically. Each tier further increases the chaoticness.

How do I get Runes?

To get Runes you will first need Essence - currency, displayed above your hot bar - which you get from melting down the loot you find in Rifts. Melt down loot at the Crucible, on the right side of the Workshop, next to the Altar.

Runes can be created and combined using the Rune Carver. The Rune Carver is found on the left side of the Workshop, right next to the Altar in the middle. You can use Essence to create a random rune. Or you can spend more essence to create a copy of a rune you have created previously.

Runes can also be found by opening chests found in Rifts or around the Workshop.

How do I use Runes?

Runes don't do anything by themselves, and must first be applied to the spell. You do this in the Spell Altar, the large contraption in the middle of the Workshop, in the room behind the Memoria Machine. To use the Altar:

1. Place a Spell in the middle of the Altar
2. Place Runes on the podiums around the Altar. Some podiums are recessed into the ground, you can unlock them by interacting with them and paying some Essence.
3. Remove the Spell from the Altar. The Runes are now stored inside the Spell, and the Rune's effects will apply to the spell.

How do I upgrade Runes?

You upgrade runes by combining two identical runes together. Before you can combine Runes, you must upgrade the Rune Carver. After that, you can press the "Combine Runes" button and it will show a list of the runes you can currently create. You need two identical runes in order to combine them; runes of the same type and tier. The maximum tier for all runes is 3, so you cannot combine runes that are already Tier 3.
