We understand it can be frustrating to find out you can not use some skins from select skin packs on multiplayer servers & partnered servers. This article will explain why these select skins do not work on servers.
Partnered Servers:
Partnered Servers (the defaults servers listed in the server tab) have a reasonability to players to ensure no one has a competitive advantage and all players can play equally, and this includes the types of skins players can wear.
Partnered servers block skins with a certain amount of transparency (to make sure players can be seen from all angles), some 'Character Creator' items and skins that contain custom geometry.
What is custom geometry?
'Custom Geometry' is what we call any skin that modifies the player model outside of the normal texture. This means skins with custom geometry make changes such as:
- Changing player height
- Adding new parts to players
- Changing the thickness of certain parts of a player
So why won't my skins work on partnered servers?
Skins with custom geometry could give players an unfair advantage or disadvantage or possibly break gameplay, for this reason, they will be replaced with a generic skin.
