To unlock Sonic and Shadow's Super Forms, you need to collect all seven Chaos Emeralds. Before proceeding with this guide, be sure to check out our other guide on how to collect the Chaos Emeralds.
Once you're ready, you'll need to craft a Chaos Machine using the Chaos Drives you obtained from defeating Dr. Eggman in boss fights. To create a Chaos Machine, make sure you have Tails' Tinker Table. You can find the recipe below for crafting Tails' Tinker Table.
Build a Chaos Machine
To build a Chaos Machine, use 1 Warp Ring, 2 Iron Blocks, 3 Glass Blocks, and 3 Chaos Drives in Tails’ Tinker Table and follow the recipe below:
How to make a Warp Ring:
Use 9 Rings to create a Stack of Rings
Use 8 Stacks of Rings to make a Warp Ring.
Place the Chaos Machine in a larger open space like the image below. Every Chaos Emerald you’ve collected will appear in the machine. You need all 7 Chaos Emeralds to transform into Super Sonic or Super Shadow.
Step Onto The Machine as Sonic Or Shadow
Step onto the middle of the Chaos Machine as Sonic or Shadow. You will evolve into their super form. However, you will consume 1 Ring every 2 seconds in your inventory, so bring lots of rings.
Super Form Transformations
Super Sonic and Super Shadow both have the following abilities:
Passive Abilities
Invincibility: You are immune to damage from all sources, except for The Void.
Ring Magnet: Nearby rings are drawn toward your character.
Activated Abilities
Super Boost: Sonic's Spin Dash and Shadow's Chaos Dash activate a Super Boost ability. This ability is toggled on after you hold and release the sneak button.
After you activate the boost ability, you will destroy any breakable blocks that you run into (will destroy items dropped from blocks too unless they are rare), and immediately destroy enemies you touch or inflict damage on bosses.
Flight: You can enter flight mode, zooming forward in the direction you are facing. If you press the sneak button again while in the air, Super Sonic or Super Shadow will land.
Hovering: If you stop moving in the air, you will hover in place, unaffected by gravity.
Multi-Homing: In boost mode, you can target enemies from a greater distance and target multiple enemies in a chain. Additional targets in a chain will show a grey homing indicator. Press the jump button to activate the attack.
Quick Reminder: While in Super Form, you will automatically lose 1 ring every 2 seconds.
